Privacy Policy for Nudgery
1. The short version (TL;DR)
Nudgery does not monetize its users, at all. Nudgery has no user tracking, no accounts, no ads, and no communication with any online service. Nudgery will not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data.
All data entered into the Nudgery app stays on your device, unless and until you manually back up your nudge data to an outside location.
2. What is Nudgery
Nudgery reminds you to answer your own questions on a schedule, and keeps a private log of your answers. You write the prompts (“nudges”), you set the schedule, and everything stays on your device. The results can be viewed in several standard graph formats that could surface trends over time.
Nudgery is not a health app, in the same way that a blank piece of paper is not a medical record: what gets recorded is entirely up to the user, and the user could choose to log anything they want on a schedule.
3. What information the app handles
- The app only handles content that you enter into the app yourself: nudge questions, answers (text, numbers, yes/no, emoji, list choices), your follow-up questions, nudge schedules, and app settings/preferences.
- The app doesn’t gather any information in the background.
4. Where your data is stored
- On your device only, in the app’s local database.
- No accounts, no remote sign-in, no developer servers, no cloud sync. Nudgery will never send user data back to the developer, or anyone else.
5. What the developer collects
Nothing. Nudgery does not send any data to the developer.
6. Permissions and why each is used
- Notifications — Reminders (“nudges”) to answer your own questions on the schedule you set up.
- Exact alarms (
USE_EXACT_ALARM/SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM) — Fire your reminders at the exact times you set up in the Nudge schedule. Scheduling reminders to answer your own questions is the app’s core function, and that’s all it’s used for. - Run at startup (
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — To re-start your scheduled reminders after the device restarts, so nudge reminders continue to work without having to restart the app manually.
All permissions are needed to perform the core function of nudging you to answer your own questions, on your schedule.
The app also responds to time-zone changes automatically, so your schedules keep up with you when you travel. This needs no permission and involves no data.
7. Exporting and sharing your data
- From the Settings page, you can export your data (e.g., a backup file / spreadsheet) and “share” it to a destination of your choice through your device’s normal share options.
- When you choose to share your exported data, that data goes wherever you send it (email, files, another app). That destination is outside the app’s and developer’s control, and is governed by that service’s policies.
- This is the only way your Nudgery data leaves your device: it only happens when you initiate it, and your data only goes where you send it.
8. Backups
- The app does not participate in Android’s automatic cloud backup (
allowBackupis off), so your data isn’t copied to Google’s backup service. - While this does mean your Nudgery data is completely under your control, it also means that you are responsible for backing up your own data to prevent loss if your device is lost, damaged, or destroyed. The export described in section 7 is how you make your own backup.
- You are responsible for transferring your nudge data if you switch to another device.
9. Third-party components
The app bundles open-source libraries (charts, UI, local database, etc.; see the in-app open-source credits / CREDITS). None of these collect or transmit user data.
10. Children’s privacy
Nudgery does not collect or transmit any of your data, regardless of your age.
11. Changes to this policy
The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version. Material changes are noted on this page and summarized in the revision history below.
Revision history
- 7 June 2026 — Clarity revision: reworded the app description to lead with answering your own questions, and reserved “tracking” for the kind of user tracking Nudgery does not do.
- 6 June 2026 — Initial version.
